Went out with Xintian and Minying today. As usual, Minying is later than expected so Xintian and I decided to go to the Philately Museum to see the Tintin exhibit.

{philately |fəˈlatl-ē|:noun :the collection and study of postage stamps.}

Yes, we went to a stamp museum, it was quite interesting, but I think it’s quite an expensive hobby to collect stamps, and people hardly write letters anymore. I don’t even know anyone who actually collect them! Hahaha.

Xintian being a stamp

It was a rather small museum. In the 1st floor, they had 2 small rooms to display the stamps together with the admission area and the shop. The display rooms mostly showed the process of making the stamps, and stamps related to Singapore and ASEAN~  Next, we climbed the staircase up for the exhibit we were there for!

Tin tin!

Sadly, it wasn’t as great as I expected. It was only in a small little room, and not a lot of items was shown. I expected more stamps but it was still quite eye opening. It made me want to collect Tintin merchandise, books, figurines and everything. Maybe I should, haha, but how do I  even start o_o

They had the original drawings and sketches Herge, creator of Tintin, did, and many figurines of the Tintin book covers. Of course, they had the stamps and the books as well.

While we are looking at the exhibit, our dear Minying told us that she’d be arriving soon. We’d left the museum early to meet her at Plaza Sing, thank god it was free haha.

So we reached Dhoby Ghaut and I see a man just sitting at the stairs and guess what I saw?! There was a rabbit just resting beside him! It was just sitting there, very tamed, I was so tempted to ask the guy if I could touch it but I was too shy :/ I did sit beside him for about a minute before Min appeared though, so there was some effort haha

Afterwards, we went to Cathay to check out some movies but it turned out that the movies we wanted were all sold out or were the front row seats, which sucks. The ones available was after 6pm, which means, no student price so we left. HAHA, so auntie.

Okay yeah, so we went to the Art Museum next despite the fact that the film Xintian wanted to watch there was 7$ ( we didn’t watch it) The first gallery we went was a exhibition by a korean artist called Hyung Koo Kang.

HE IS AMAZING!

My mind was completely blown because he did photorealistic portraits in extreme sizes. Every wrinkle, hair, pore was shown. It was so beautiful and amazing, I really couldn’t believe it. There was a video about him and his art too, it was very inspiring. He pursued art though against his father wishes and he worked as a salesman and a curator for about 15 years. One day, he realised  what he wanted to do: art, and so he locks himself in his studio for 11 years. Of course, he went out for food and stuff but he really was very dedicated to what he was doing in the end.

We then visited other exhibitions and we ate the real, not home-made Strawberry Nutella Crepes!
